Brenton D. Hill (“Brent”) was raised in Beaumont, Texas where he graduated from Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School. After high school, Brent attended Baylor University where he studied finance and was an active member of the Baylor Waterski Team, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2006.
After college, Brent remained in Waco to attend Baylor Law School, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2009. Brent began his legal career with a prominent Abilene law firm that same year, working primarily in the areas of estate planning, trust and estate administration and general business law.
Beginning in 2012, Brent began working in-house, representing banks in their capacity as a corporate fiduciary, with the majority of such time being at First Financial Trust in Abilene, where he ultimately rose to the level of Senior Vice President. During this time, Brent worked on hundreds of trust and estate administrations where he not only acquired a deep mastery of the legal issues associated with administering estate plans (both well-drafted and poorly drafted), but he also acquired thorough knowledge of the unique income tax, investment, oil & gas, and real estate issues present in estate planning and administration.
After over a decade in the trust business, Brent felt called to return to the traditional practice of law, joining B&T in May 2023, where he serves as the Managing Attorney of the Abilene office. Brent’s practice focuses on estate planning, probate, trust administration, and family law. Brent represents clients by drafting estate plans (both simple and complex), advising fiduciaries in matters of trust and estate administration, and represents both fiduciaries and beneficiaries in trust and estate disputes and litigation.
Additionally Brent’s past experience with estate and trust asset distribution has proven to have significant crossover into areas of family law, such as pre and post nuptial marital agreements and both simple and complex divorce related marital property settlement agreements.
Brent lives in Abilene with his wife and two children, where he is highly active in the community—being named one of Abilene’s top 20 professionals under the age of 40 by the Abilene Chamber of Commerce. Active on a number of boards, Brent currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Abilene Bar Association, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Global Samaritan Resources, Vice Chair of the Salvation Army Abilene Advisory Board, and Vice President of Finance for the Board of Frontier Texas.
