Call Today to Speak With an Attorney

Kristin Kaye

Associate Partner / Managing Attorney

Kristin Kaye is a Senior Attorney with Blanchard & Thomas, PLLC. She has over ten years of experience litigating primarily child custody and criminal matters. Throughout her legal career, she has tried over fifty jury trials, ranging from simple traffic violations to complex capital murder cases. She continually proves herself more than capable of handling every aspect of a case from consult, to negotiation, to jury argument.

One of the most-treasured compliments Kristin has received is, “you're the first person who ever made me feel like they cared about my case.” This is a truth Kristin strives to impart on all clients she represents at B&T. She will work hard to earn the right to be your attorney indefinitely, not just for your current legal issue. She is zealous, fierce, and passionate advocate in and out of the courtroom. She can be trusted not to back down from any fight unless it is in your best interest and at your request.

Before joining the team at B&T, Kristin served as an Assistant District Attorney in McLennan (Waco), Harrison and Anderson Counties. In those positions, she initially handled a variety of criminal cases from misdemeanor traffic tickets to felony capital murders. She later represented the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (also known as CPS) before ultimately becoming a felony level prosecutor assigned to the Crimes Against Children Division. Through those experiences, Kristin became particularly adept at both storytelling and public speaking. She often moved jurors to tears in her closing arguments due to her ability to convey her passion for protecting children and the jury’s ability to make positive change through their verdict. She also developed a knack for speaking with children on their level and helping them express their hardships in a public forum. She has perfected the art of being welcoming and gentle with children while remaining direct and calculated with adult witnesses, attorneys, and Judges.

Kristin holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. Mary's University School of Law (2011) where she was a member of the Mock Trial Team and National Black Law Students Association Mock Trial Team. Her team made it to the national level competition in Boston, Massachusetts. Additionally, Kristin participated in the St. Mary's University School of Law Clinic where she helped represent low income clients in family cases and other civil law matters. Kristin earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2006.

Kristin is a native Texan, born and raised in San Antonio. She is currently a member of the McLennan County Defense Lawyers Association, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section. In her free time, Kristin enjoys yoga, journaling, horror movies, gardening, listening to true-crime podcasts, and spending time with her two young children. If asked, her family would say her specialty in the kitchen is fried chicken wings, and enchiladas with a tomatillo-based sauce.

The Blanchard & Thomas "Clients' Bill of Rights"

We Want To Earn The Right To Be Your Attorneys From Now On,
Not Just For The Duration Of Your Current Legal Issue.

We Aim to Win

We play to win. While we cannot guarantee outcomes in any case, we always do our best to see that our clients come out on top. We want our clients to know without question that their success matters to us personally.

Strategic Planning

We play hard, we play fast, and we stick to the game plan. We work with every client to develop a strategy most likely to bring about their success. We work hard to ensure the strategy gives our client every advantage possible and their very best chance at success. We then implement that strategy as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Honesty and Integrity

We build our relationships upon a foundation of total honesty. Absolute honesty allows the client and the attorney to develop trust that will be absolutely critical to success in and out of the courtroom.

Commitment To Communication

We make a commitment to communication. We begin and end many of our days communicating with clients. Our clients can count on us to return phone calls and/or e-mails within 24 to 48 hours except in emergencies or during announced absences from the office. We want our clients to know what we know and vice-versa. We want to ensure they can make informed decisions from start to finish.

Client Attorney Relationship

While the attorney client relationship may not always result in friendship, we believe it should always result in mutual respect. We zealously advocate on our clients’ behalf whether we agree with their choices or not. We do not judge our client’s choices; we simply attempt to help them learn from them, live with them, and overcome them.

Our Promise

We serve at the clients’ pleasure. If for any reason whatsoever the client decides he/she is better off with a different attorney or law firm, we will respectfully and professionally do whatever we can to get the new attorney or law firm up to speed and ready to handle the case. We vow to never object to a client’s request to seek alternative counsel, and we promise to return 100% of any unearned advance payments.
